Learn everything you need to know about snorkeling in Cozumel from our guide made for travelers like you. When your ready, come back and lock-in your time so nobody else does.
Technically no — you can wade in from any beach. But Cozumel's best reefs (Palancar, Columbia) are only reachable by boat, and the marine life you'll see on a guided tour is dramatically different from shore snorkeling. If you want the snorkeling that makes Cozumel famous, you need a tour.
Yes, sea turtles are common at Palancar and Columbia reefs, both stops on our tour. Encounters aren't guaranteed but they're frequent year-round
Most snorkeling in Cozumel happens in 10–30 feet of water with 100+ ft visibility year-round. On our tour, El Cielo sandbar is only 3 feet deep (perfect for kids and beginners), while Palancar and Columbia reefs sit in 15–35 feet of calm, drift-friendly water. Life jackets are provided and required for all guests.
Absolutely. A guided tour gets you to Cozumel's best reefs — Palancar and Columbia — which are part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef and only accessible by boat. Our tour includes 3 hours of snorkeling, all gear, fresh food and drinks on the boat, plus the famous El Cielo sandbar where you wade with stingrays in 3 feet of water. For most visitors, the tour is the only way to see what makes Cozumel one of the world's top snorkeling destinations.
Our snorkel tour allows ages 3 and up. Kids snorkel with provided life jackets in shallow, calm water at El Cielo Beach, which is only 3 feet deep where we anchor. This makes it ideal for first-time family snorkelers. Strong swimmers can join the deeper reef snorkeling at Palancar reef sites and Columbia reef.
Absolutely. We provide professional-grade snorkel gear (mask, fins, life jacket) for every guest, but you're welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Our gear is sanitized between tours.
